Red Clover has a subtle, naturally sweet, pleasant honeysuckle-like taste. It can be used to make a herbal tea on its own, or be added to any of your fave teas as it steeps. Pairs especially well with BeauTeaful Skincare Tea or Seamist* Tea.
Use approximately 1 blossom (or the equivalent) per cup of tea. Steep for up to a maximum of 10 minutes, then strain. Enjoy it hot or iced.
Rich in antioxidants & anti-inflammatory compounds, it is a popular ingredient in traditional remedies among First Nations & in Europe. Contains isoflavones - natural plant chemicals that have a similar effect to the hormone estrogen. Traditionally taken as a feminine tonic for PMS, hot flashes & symptoms associated with menopause. It was also associated with anti-aging benefits & improving the complexion - interestingly, estrogen plays a role in the youthfulness, tone & texture of skin’s appearance. As well, herbs or foods that are antioxidant rich are also considered anti-aging.
*Seamist is a blend of mint, lemongrass and seaweed which are ingredients that are traditionally taken for hot flashes, PMS & water retention.
contraindications: Do not take during pregnancy, when undergoing cancer treatment or if taking blood thinning medication. Avoid or use caution if you have ragweed allergies. Do not exceed 3-4 cups per day.
