Autumn leaves & crisp air entice us to put the kettle on & have some tea. It’s a season of visual splendor as nature transitions from summer to winter, but it can also mean colds, flu, low moods & low energy, aches & pains or seasonal weight gain. Whatever the season, I always looked for ways to flourish. Another study suggests a hot bath can reduce blood sugar levels & stimulate weight loss more rapidly than exercise.

My fave fall ritual is a bath with our potent aromatherapy bathsalts, accompanied by a cup of tea. It sounds too good to be true, but science is revealing what many ancient civilizations took to be common sense knowledge. Baths can stimulate circulation, ease aches & pains, boost the immune system, support elimination, help make skin supple & may even balance circadian rhythm (which can aid sleep & moods).

When I don’t have time for a bath or I’m somewhere that doesn’t have a tub, I treat myself to a footbath. There are many nerve endings in the feet & they contain sweat glands, so a footbath also supports detoxification. 

All you need is a basic bowl or tub large enough for your feet. Twenty minutes the recommended time for wellness benefits, but I usually linger longer than that. Enjoy a footbath with a cup of tea while you’re reading, watching a show or enjoying a mindfulness practice.

SLIMMING + DIGESTION Sip 1-2 cups Detox Tea after treats or meals. Several caffeine free herbs in this tea (tulsi, blueberry leaf, rosemary) are traditionally associated with balancing blood sugar levels. Avoid chamomile after meals – it can slow digestion. As already noted, a hot bath with Detox Bathsalts is also great!

LOW CALORIE INDULGENCES Treat yourself with yummy tea based drinks (including tea lattes) that are satisfying but low-cal & counteract stress which may be why you’re reaching for treats. SINUS HEALTH + ALLERGIES Fall allergies make it likelier to get colds & flu. Inflamed nasal passages are more vulnerable to viruses.
