TEA OF GOOD CHEER
flavour profile: a warm, spicy flavour with lively citrus notes
ingredients: black tea, exotic spices (cinnamon, clove, coriander, cardamom), mandarin, tangerine, sweet orange & lemon peel & essence
Beloved, best-selling SPICY MANDARIN TEA is back in stock for a limited time, while quantities last! In recent years, we haven't been able to make SPICY MANDARIN TEA due to the impact that climate change is having on the taste of key ingredients in this blend. The delicious taste of our teas comes from real ingredients & we won't substitute with artificial flavours when the real thing isn't available. The challenge is that climate change is altering the taste of many ingredients & the impact of those flavor changes is becoming increasingly noticeable & is expected to continue. A key ingredient in SPICY MANDARIN TEA is a medley of citrus fruit, but in the past few years, citrus has been affected by a blight & crop failures. The result is that citrus tastes less zesty & zingy. The taste of spices have also been impacted by changes in climate - they are tending to be less sweet & more flat. Recently, we had some zesty, zingy citrus arrive & some sweet, lively spices... They aren't an exact match to what they used to taste like, but close enough, that it inspired our Tea Master to revive SPICY MANDARIN TEA.
While you won't find this release of SPICY MANDARIN identical to the original blend, it's very similar & makes for a delicious brew. The challenges impacting citrus fruits & spices continue & so we do not expect we will be able to make much more of this tea in the future, but we have some for you to enjoy for now.
If you loved this tea from us in the past, we would recommend purchasing a smaller size to start out with, as it's not identical to the original. See how you like it before stocking up.

Brewing Instructions
Pour 2 cups of water over 1 tsp. of SILK ROAD premium quality, organic loose tea. This may not seem like a lot of tea but SILK ROAD teas are incredibly fresh & flavourful, which means that you don’t need very much in order to produce a delicious cup of tea. Using any more tea leaves can result in a cup of tea that is too strong.

Sizing Information
Loose teas are sold in refillable tins to preserve the tea’s superb flavour, freshness and nutrients. Normally, we encourage you to bring your empty tins into our shops to refill. However, this is currently on pause due to COVID-19. We’re delighted to offer another eco-friendly, low-waste way to re-use your tins!
Brown bag refills are available when you purchase tea in-store and online. Simply select “refill” to receive your tea in a brown bag refill. Immediately transfer the tea to the original tin it came in, once the brown bag refill is home or has arrived in the mail. Brown bags are 100% recyclable, compostable, biodegradable and made of post-consumer recycled paper.
CAN I STORE TEA IN THE BROWN BAG REFILL? No, it is a short term method for transport only and is not suitable for storing. It will not maintain tea’s freshness, nutrients and flavour. It does not protect against exposure to air, liquid or moisture. Air exposure causes nutrient & flavour loss; liquid/moisture causes tea to mildew. As soon as you get home from the shop, or when it arrives in the mail, transfer tea immediately into Silk Road tins - they are designed to preserve the tea.
ABOUT TEA SIZES Refer to the above chart - our loose teas are sold by volume, not weight.
