Classic style, full-bodied & charcoal roasted. Compelling complexity & lingering aftertaste result from ancient tea bushes grown in mineral rich soil, within a magnificent subtropical rainforest. Crafted from wild bushes grown in Wuyi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site containing a treasured biodiversity zone.
Considered an elixir of immortality & replenishing tonic, it is associated with many healthful properties including stimulating the metabolism & digestion, as well as slimming effects. Traditionally enjoyed with a heavy meal or after strenuous physical exercise (such as martial arts) for its restorative benefits.
WUYI SHAN, FUJIAN CHINA ROU GUI CULTIVAR
Our Special Reserve Tea Collection celebrates the art of tea craftsmanship, supports biodiversity, the environment and small scale tea farmers. Requiring great skill to produce, many of the teas in this collection can take a Tea Maker over 10 years to learn and by purchasing these teas you’re helping keep these traditions and unique tea varietals alive and thriving.
To maximize the taste & aroma experience
> brew & serve it Chinese Tea Ceremony style in a medium to heavy weight porcelain teapot & cups
> sip from a thin, curved lip teacup or gaiwan (lidded teacup)

Pour 2 cups of water over 1 tsp. of SILK ROAD premium quality, organic loose tea. This may not seem like a lot of tea but SILK ROAD teas are incredibly fresh & flavourful, which means that you don’t need very much in order to produce a delicious cup of tea. Using any more tea leaves can result in a cup of tea that is too strong.

Loose teas are sold in refillable tins to preserve freshness and nutrients. Exposure to light, heat and air causes flavour loss as well as the nutrient value of tea to decline, so be sure to store your teas in the tins they came in. Bring the tin back into our shops for refills and enjoy a discount. Please note that we sell our loose teas by volume, not weight.
