Melt away physical and mental tension with a blissful combination of Reiki, aromatherapy, gemstone, far infrared and magnetic therapy.
During the Reiki treatment, you'll rest on the spa bed fully clothed, as gentle pressure is applied by the practitioner's hands. Their palms are held over the head, face, neck, chest, shoulders, stomach and legs in a meditative sequence. You may experience a range of soothing sensations, such as energy waves, pulsing, cosy heat, refreshing coolness or tingling. Some people experience a general sense of well-being and peacefulness, without physical sensations. You may also find yourself drifting into a peaceful slumber. The sensations can vary from session to session and from person to person. Regardless of any sensations, studies indicate Reiki has a measurable effect on the nervous system, reduces anxiety and pain, lowers the heart rate and balances blood pressure.
Throughout the session, therapeutic essential oils that target the respiratory and limbic system are softly released into the air to facilitate deeper breathing and serenity. While you’re enjoying the hands-on Reiki treatment to the front of your body, mild infrared heat gently warms you from underneath. Far infrared penetrates ultra-deeply, easing physical tension and discomfort, encouraging circulation and lymphatic flow, and supporting the body’s natural detoxification mechanisms. It is also associated with mood boosting, stress relieving, anti-inflammatory and alkaline promoting effects. Jade has been prized throughout Asia for having a tranquil and rejuvenating effect. A special combination of 428 jade gemstones, tourmaline and passive magnet stones are located within the spa bed. Negative ions are generated by the stones when they are specially heated through the far infrared technology, releasing 1500+ negative ions per square inch. Studies in Europe and Japan indicate that negative ions may strengthen the autonomic nervous system and immune function, and promote collagen production.

Pre-payment At Booking
Full payment for the service is required at the time of booking. When you click the link to book a date/time for a service, you are automatically prompted to pay for the service.
We have adopted pre-payment as a result of too many last minute cancellations. When booking spa appointments, the room, equipment and Spa Practitioner's time are reserved for you. If adequate notice is not provided, it burdens us with the expenses of the Spa Practitioner's wages, equipment and administrative costs. We appreciate your understanding.
If you have a SILK ROAD GIFT CARD, you may be able to use it to pre-pay for the service online at the time of booking. See below for more details.
NEED TO CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE? As much notice as possible is appreciated, as it increases the likelihood we can fill the spot with another booking. You can cancel your appointment via the cancellation link at the bottom of the booking confirmation email. When less than 24 hours notice is provided to cancel or re-schedule a service, the full amount of the service will be charged. You will not receive a refund.
USING A GIFT CARD? If the gift card has a QR code, it will also contain a 16-digit code. This type of gift card can be used for online purchases, so you can use it for pre-payment at the time of booking. Enter the 16-digit code into the payment field at checkout.
If the gift card does not have a QR code, you will need to pre-pay online at the time of booking, using a credit card. When you come in for your appointment, bring the SILK ROAD GIFT CARD with you. Provide it to us when you are checking in for the appointment. The value of the SILK ROAD GIFT CARD will be verified at that time and applied to the value of the service, and the pre-payment will be refunded.
If you forget to bring the gift card with you to the appointment, we cannot issue a refund, but you can use the gift card for any purchases of products in-store that day, or use it towards another service in the future. For more information about redeeming gift cards click here.

LOCATION The SILK ROAD SPA is located within our Victoria Chinatown shop at 1624 Government St.
Contraindications
INFRARED CONTRAINDICATIONS Our spa bed has a built-in, far infrared feature which provides a gentle heat of approximately 37.78 to 40 degrees Celsius (100 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit). While far infrared is associated with some beneficial effects, there are some conditions & situations where it is not recommended. If this applies to you, we can modify the service so that the infrared heat is turned off.
Please read the contraindications carefully below & advise us if any of these apply to you. Infrared is not considered suitable for those who:
- have diabetes
- use an insulin pump
- have a pacemaker
- are trying to get pregnant or are pregnant
- are experiencing hot flashes or menopause
- are easily overheated
- are experiencing a fever
- have low or high blood pressure
- are prone to dizzy spells
- have poor circulation or circulatory issues
- have kidney disease
- have cancer
- are undergoing cancer treatment, including chemotherapy &/or radiation
- are experiencing any serious medical conditions other than the ones that are listed above. In that event, consult with your doctor.
AROMATHERAPY CONTRAINDICATIONS Please inform us in advance of your service if you have any allergies to essential oils. We will do our best to accommodate you; however, depending on the severity of your allergy, a spa visit may not be suitable. Contact us to discuss.
SPA SERVICES & PREGNANCY We are able to make some accommodations during pregnancy, but in order for you to enjoy the service, it's important for you to be feeling well enough to do so. If you are experiencing nausea, wait until after any symptoms relating to nausea are gone to book an appointment. Please note that our Spa Services are performed on a spa bed, and require you to lay on your back, fully reclined during the treatment. Depending on the stage of your pregnancy, it may not be comfortable to do so. In that case, it can be best to wait to book in for a Spa Service until you'll find it relaxing to be fully reclined for the duration of the service time.
