This is a better quality bamboo whisk than the types that look similar but are sold for a lower price. Here’s why: Our traditional matcha whisk is made from a single piece of bamboo, which is hand cut into over 100 strands. Each piece of bamboo is carefully selected so that the placement of the knot where your fingers rest is perfect in relation to the strands. The tulip shape helps to add oxygen to the tea as it is whisked. Better quality whisks make it easier and faster for the matcha to foam, and they also produce more froth, for a richer taste experience.
Periodically (about once a month), soak the bamboo whisk in room temperature water for an hour or so to strengthen it. You can place it in a bowl with enough water to cover it and let it sit on the counter for about an hour. When bamboo dries out too much, it weakens and can break. If you’re not using the whisk regularly, before using it again for the first time, let it soak in water for an hour.
Do not place in dishwasher - hand wash only by rinsing it in hot water ONLY (do not use soap).
