TEA OF ZEN
Our Heritage style Matcha is shade-grown & stone-ground from organic Japanese tea leaves. Crafted in accordance with authentic, high quality production methods dating back hundreds of years.
It is offered to you in its pure state, without any additives or fillers. Nowadays, many brands sell matcha which contains sweeteners, artificial flavours, colours & dyes (to make it appear a brighter green colour).
We prefer to offer you what nature intended - you’ll find this Matcha has bold & hearty taste in keeping with the authentic character of how it is grown & harvested.
Please note that this tea has previously been sold in foil zip top packet. There are currently shortages of this type of packet, so your matcha may arrive in either a foil or lined kraft paper packet. We are not able to advise you in advance of which one you'll receive, as we are doing our best to fill orders with whatever packaging we are able to source at any given time. The different colour of the packaging is not reflective of any changes in the type of matcha inside of it. The matcha has stayed the same, it's just that the colour of the packet may change a bit over the next little while!

BREWING MATCHA
Traditional Bowl Method: Place 1-2 tsp Matcha in a bowl. Pour aprox 60 ml or 2 oz hot water (use water just before boiling) over Matcha. Using a bamboo whisk, rapidly whisk until frothy. Sip directly from bowl. For a finer froth, pre-sift Matcha immediately before placing in bowl.
Latte Method: Place 1-2 tsp Matcha into a bowl. Pour 60 ml or 2 oz hot water (use water just before boiling) over the Matcha. Using a bamboo whisk, rapidly whisk until frothy. Separately heat dairy or non-dairy milk. Froth. Pour Matcha over milk. Stir.
*Please note that while enjoying a Matcha latte is tasty, milk binds with the tea’s antioxidants so it prevents you from absorbing many of its benefits. For health benefits, it’s best to enjoy it plain.
Store away from light, heat & keep tightly sealed to maintain freshness. Consume within a few months for maximum benefits.
CAFFEINE & MATCHA
Although Matcha is a green tea, which is normally lower in caffeine, it is highly concentrated because it is powdered. You’re getting many more cups of green tea in even a small serving, which means the caffeine content is much higher than other green teas. The caffeine level is similar to coffee, depending on how strong you make it. However, the caffeine in tea affects you differently than the caffeine in coffee, so you may not notice the after-effects as much.
