A remarkably simple yet effective way to enjoy a cup of tea.
Tip one side to brew tea (with the strainer positioned underwater), & then tip the other way to drink (when the strainer is positioned out of the water, the tea leaves are no longer being steeped).
The ingenious Finnish design was invented by Laura Bougdanos, who was inspired by the sleek efficiency of Nordic design & the rugged beauty of Finland's landscape – gleaming snow drifts & inky black lakes in the arctic night. Daniela Cubelic, Silk Road's Owner & Tea Master was a collaborator on the project, ensuring that TipCup brews a perfect cup of tea!
TipCup is an extraordinary design from the perspective of tea innovation. Tea has more than 4,000 years of recorded history, & in all this time, no one has come up with the idea of tipping a cup one way to brew tea, & then tipping it another way to stop the leaves from continuing to infuse. It's comparable to when teapots or teaballs were first invented. Although the TipCup is a newcomer on the tea-culture block, it has already won a honourable mention at the prestigious reddot design awards for 2011.
